Mrazek Collection Description An account of the resource William Anthony Mrazek “(October 20, 1911 to February 8, 1992)” received his education at Deutsche Technische Hochschule, Brünn, Germany, graduating with an engineering diploma in 1935 (Wade, Lundquist). Mrazek worked at Peenemünde from 1941 to 1945 as a loads engineer (Lundquist, Wade). He worked with Wernher von Braun at Peenemünde. <br /><br />Mrazek was brought to America through Operation Paperclip and arrived at Fort Bliss on April 8, 1946 (Wade, Lundquist). In 1950, Mrazek moved to Huntsville, Alabama, and worked for the U.S. Army’s rocket programs until 1960.<br /><br />By 1960, Mrazek became Director, Structures and Mechanics Division at the George C. Marshall Space Flight Center, and by February 1969, he became the Assistant Director for Engineering for Industrial Operations (Wade, Lundquist). Schulze was a guided missile expert during WWII, and he worked at Peenemünde from 1937 until 1945 (Wade, Lundquist). He was brought to America through Operation Paperclip, and he worked as a member of von Braun's Rocket Team (Wade). By July 1, 1965, Schulze was employed at the Marshall Space Flight Center. Schulze was a guided missile expert during WWII, and he worked at Peenemünde from 1937 until 1945 (Wade, Lundquist). He was brought to America through Operation Paperclip, and he worked as a member of von Braun's Rocket Team (Wade). By July 1, 1965, Schulze was employed at the Marshall Space Flight Center. Her father, Hermann Ludewig, was one of the V-2 engineers at Peenemuende. Consequently, she grew up in Peenemuende until an air raid in 1943 destroyed their home. McCanless and her family moved to Trebbin, Germany, which became part of East Germany after World War II. In 1953, Ludewig accepted a job to work with Von Braun in Huntsville, Alabama and decided to flee East Germany with his family. McCanless continued school in the United States and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Montevallo and then graduated with a Masters in Library Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She served as the first full-time, professional librarian at UAH. After serving as the Library Director at UAH, she worked in the Huntsville Times newspaper library, the Huntsville Museum of Art’s Art Reference Library, and the Huntsville Museum of Art’s Education Resource Center. In addition, she consulted for the Alabama Library Exchange and created workshops on technology and library science. McCanless is the author of "Fabergé and His Works: An Annotated Bibliography of the First Century of His Art" and a co-author of "Fabergé Eggs: A Retrospective."
